I think you mean pirates. Vikings were seafaring and also raiders, but I don't think any were portrayed as having hooks or patches. Pirates were, the reason for that is that there were many fights and also many things that could go wrong on ships, so many long time pirates lost limbs, eyes, and got diseases like scurvy.
That's more of the vintage pirate look not viking....vikings wore furs and helmets that had horns

Viking people? I think the hook in the hand and just one eye is the stereotype for a Viking person. Viking people looked like regular people in their time. No one had just only one eye and a hook.
