How do we look in the eyes of other? Do you really see what others see and how come they can?

see something totally diffrent of what we see in ourselves. I mean are we really off with our looks, and if we are how far from the truth are we?How do we look in the eyes of other? Do you really see what others see and how come they can?
I have come to find out that my personality is one with a high ability to empathize with others...

I am a female that tends to have a male point of view...

People like to come to me and ask ';OK... This is what happened... How does he/she really feel?'; because I can see a guy's POV AND a girl's POV and I'm pretty damn accurate.

It is just something I was born with... And after I discovered this, I got in to Psychology to be able to give more then a ';He thinks you are over reacting'; and actually provide details like ';The way you approached it caused him to go on the defensive and that led to him misunderstanding you which made him think that you were over reacting';

If you understand what I mean...

You need to step outside yourself...

You need to look at the differences in how the brain is actually structured and how each sex and even different cultures relate to the world.

It is only when you can come to terms with the realization that you are a grain of sand on the beach and that each grain is shaped a little different then yours can you begin to put your feet in another's shoes...

It takes a LOT of introspection... You have to study both the good about people and, more importantly, the bad which has shaped each person in to what they are.

A suprising step in this is to listen to Love Line on the raido or download episodes here:

Listening to people bear their souls and try to get help about everything from stupid teen sex questions to ';How do I cope with being raped'; to Chemical Dependancy issues really gives you a look at what humanity really is...How do we look in the eyes of other? Do you really see what others see and how come they can?
An eye cannot look at itself. A finger cannot touch itself.

So it is much easier to look at others objectively. Our emotions skew our perceptions. They say, all looks yellow to a jaundiced eye, but it is more that our defenses and insecurities effect how we see ourselves. We are highly influenced by how we believe others perceive us. This is how we get our self identity. It is called the looking glass self.
